Egg Timer
Since a few days ago every time I do anything including leaving my PC alone, the egg timer on my arrow keeps working for a few seconds stops then starts again, as if it is doing a task as normal. This has just started to happen and wonder if anybody has got any answers, it happens if I am connected to the internet

When using word (And also outlook) I notice the curser changes to the busy (Egg timer) every 11 seconds, for about 1 second. During this pause characters I type fail to appear on screen untill the curser returns. This is very distracting and makes word unusable. Has anyone else had this problem?

The flashing egg timer on my machine was due to my firewall which did not allow msn messenger to connect to the internet and every time anyone used MSN this tried to connect and activated the flashing timer. I reset my firewall to allow messenger to connect and presto the flashing egg timer has gone.
